At AFMESI, every coastline tells a story — of nature’s beauty, community resilience, and our shared responsibility to protect it. Over the years, we have consistently championed beach cleanups and community sensitization efforts across Nigeria’s coastal communities, empowering people to see beaches not just as recreational spaces, but as vital ecosystems that sustain livelihoods and biodiversity.
Most recently, Lekki Port in partnership with AFMESI, carried out a community sensitization and marine cleanup exercise in Magbon Segun, Ibeju Lekki, engaging youths, community leaders, and stakeholders to raise awareness on the importance of keeping our beaches and coastlines clean.
Today, on World Beach Day 2025, we reaffirm our commitment to:
-Protecting our beaches from plastic and marine litter
-Raising awareness on the link between clean coasts and human health
