AFMESI Partners with Lekki Deep Sea Port for Community Sensitization and Marine Cleanup in Ibeju Lekki
Lekki Port has always been a great partner of AFMESI, based on our shared belief that growth and sustainability can go hand in hand, in a truly inclusive manner.
This Shared value was evidently demonstrated once again on Saturday, August 15, 2025, when AFMESI and Lekki Port joined forces for a community sensitization and marine cleanup exercise at Magbon Segun, Ibeju Lekki, Lagos. AFMESI is proud to have carried out this initiative, aimed at raising awareness among coastal communities on the need for a clean and healthy environment.
The Managing Director of Lekki Port, Mr. Wang Qiang, alongside top management staff, joined in the exercise, showing leadership by example. According to Lekki Port, this is more than a one-off activity, it reflects their continuous commitment to ensuring communities understand and appreciate the importance of clean environments, especially the coastlines, which are vital for biodiversity, sustenance, and human health.
The event brought together youths from schools, community members, and local leaders, all actively engaged in the cleanup and sensitization activities. This inclusive participation not only strengthened community ownership but also reinforced the shared responsibility we all have in protecting our oceans and coasts. AFMESI is excited to have partnered with Lekki Port once again and looks forward to scaling up such initiatives in the future.
Together, AFMESI and Lekki Port are driving not only environmental action but also ocean literacy, community resilience, and sustainable development for Nigeria’s coastal communities.
