Chief Engineer & Surveyor Toks Taylor is a trained Engineer with several years of experience working in both the public and private sectors. He possesses a Graduate Diploma in Marine Industry from the International Institute of Marine Surveyors. He is a certified 1st Class Chief Marine Engineer as issued by the Marine Coastguard Agency (MCA) UK. For several years, Chief Engineer & Surveyor Taylor worked at sea as a Cadet with the Sierra Leone National Shipping Company (SLNSC), then with various International Shipping Companies from Junior to Chief Engineer Officer. He has also held several consultancy roles. As a Consultant to the Government of Sierra Leone and SLNSC, he initiated, advised and worked with them and passed the Bill which established the Sierra Leone Freight Levy Fund. He also gave general assistance on maritime related matters, including inland waterways. For five years, Chief Engineer & Surveyor Toks Taylor served as a Maritime Consultant to Sierra Leone Maritime Administration. Amongst other achievements in that role, he assisted the Administration on improving the quality of the Sierra Leone International Ship Registry and related legislation. He was accredited to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) by the President, as the first representative of Sierra Leone to IMO. He served for four years as the Alternate Permanent Representative for Sierra Leone to IMO. Currently, Chief Engineer & Surveyor Toks Taylor continues to serve as the Chief Executive of Sahara Services Ltd. (Marine and Ship Surveyors).
