
On May 30, 2025, the President of the African Marine Environment Sustainability Initiative (AFMESI), Dr. Mrs. Felicia Chinwe Mogo, was invited to speak at the Women in Maritime and Shipping Conference 2025, hosted by the Nigerian Chamber of Shipping at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Under the conference theme —
“Charting New Waters: Women Steering Progress in Maritime and Shipping” —
the session emphasized the growing role of technology and sustainability in reshaping the maritime workforce, and the urgent need to equip women with the tools, skills, and opportunities to lead in the blue economy era.
